Prop Firm Challenges
An intrinsic expected value comparison
Not every challenge is equal. What is intrinsic expected value?
- We simulate a trader with no edge at all: every trade is a coinflip — 50 % win rate, 1:1 reward to risk, 1 % of the account per trade, one trade per day.
- Each challenge is attempted 20,000 times under the firm's real rules: target, drawdown, daily limits, consistency, minimum days. A failed attempt is bought again at the price shown.
- A passed account keeps trading and takes every payout the firm allows — under its buffer, caps and winning-day rules — until it is lost or the firm's payout limit is reached. The same payout habit is used for every firm: the trader asks for a payout as soon as the profit they can withdraw reaches one max drawdown (or the firm's cap, if that is lower), and takes what is available up to the cap.
- Intrinsic EV = the average payouts you receive minus the average cost of getting funded. A positive number means the rules pay more than they cost, even without an edge.
- It compares rule sets — it is not a forecast of your results. Commissions, slippage and each firm's prohibited-strategy rules are not modelled, and firms change their rules. Trading carries risk; only trade with money you can afford to lose.

- Disclaimer
This table is a comparison tool and nothing more. It shows what the firms write on their own websites, and TLFX does not guarantee that any of it is correct or complete. That goes for the prices and the rules, and TLFX cannot promise you any payouts either. Firms change their offers all the time, so please check the prices and rules on the firm's website yourself before you buy. Every purchase is your own decision and your own responsibility.

Common questions
Why only 50K accounts?
Because the 50K account is usually the best value a firm sells. What decides a challenge is how much room you get for how far you have to go — the drawdown against the profit target. At most futures firms the 50K account gives the most room per dollar of target: E8 Signature, for example, gives you a $2,000 drawdown for a $3,000 target at 50K, but only $3,000 for a $6,000 target at 100K. Comparing one size also keeps the table fair.
What is Intrinsic EV?
What a challenge is worth on its rules alone. We simulate a trader with no edge at all — a coinflip with a 50 % win rate at 1:1 — through 20,000 attempts under the firm's real rules, count every payout a funded account takes, and subtract what it costs to get funded. A positive number means the rules pay out more than they cost, even without any trading skill. The full method is explained in the question at the top of the page.
Does a positive Intrinsic EV mean I will make money?
No. It is an average over thousands of simulated traders, and most of them still lose their challenge fee — the positive number comes from the few that get paid several times. It also leaves out commissions, slippage and each firm's rules against gambling-style trading. Use it to compare rule sets, not as a forecast. Trading carries risk; only trade with money you can afford to lose.
Where do the prices come from?
From each firm's own website, checked every week. The date of the last check is shown under the table. The struck-through price is the list price, the bold one is the best price currently available. Most of my links apply that discount automatically; where a firm wants a code typed in at checkout, its own website shows which one. You never pay more than going to the firm directly. The firm's checkout is always the final price.
Why are only these firms listed?
I only list firms I have a partnership with, and only after I have read their rules myself on their own website. More firms are added as partnerships start. If a firm you use is missing, tell me on Discord.
How current are the rules?
Every rule is read from the firm's own pages and help centre, and the date it was last checked is shown in the full-screen table. Firms do change their rules — E8, for example, reduced its payouts per account from five to four in October 2026 — so always confirm the rules with the firm before you buy.
Do you earn from these links?
Yes. When you buy through one of the buttons I may earn a commission from the firm. It costs you nothing extra — the links carry my discount code, which gets you the best price on offer — and it is how this comparison stays free.
Can I test my own strategy?
Yes — that is what the simulator on this page is for. Pick a challenge, set your risk per trade, win rate, reward to risk and trades per day, and it runs the same simulation for your numbers: pass rate, cost to get funded, expected payouts, days to your first payout and sample equity curves.
